WoW Shadowlands: Higher item level for last bosses in Castle Nathria

The days of WoW players getting the best loot exclusively in raids are actually long gone. Mythic-plus dungeons have items that are higher in level than in the normal and heroic raids. The loot from the weekly crate even has the same item level as equipment from the mythic raid. This will be similar in WoW Shadowlands. However, there is an exception again. Because the last two bosses in Castle Nathria drop a higher item level for you than the previous ones. This means that in the first tier, the best possible equipment will be available exclusively in the mythical raid - at least in some slots.

In doing so, the developers at Blizzard are bypassing a mistake they made in the past when they gave the final bosses a higher item level. In contrast to the past, Castle Nathria now offers weapons with a higher item level for all play styles. This wasn't always the case in the past and caused some classes to be at a massive disadvantage. However, since Blizzard allows weapon tokens to drop instead of weapons in raids in Shadowlands, this is no longer a problem. Weapons drop for all classes at the final boss, while offhand items are captured at the penultimate boss.
It is also worth noting that the item level increase is already present in the first raid of the expansion. In the past, this was usually only active in later raids.

The following item levels are to be captured in the raid Castle Nathria. The number in parentheses refers to the two final bosses.

  • LFR: 187 (194)
  • Normal: 200 (207)
  • Heroic: 213 (220)
  • Mythic: 226 (233)
