WoW: Reinforced media sockets now accessible - here's how they work

Fame level 61 is the first time players will get access to the first boosted media sockets as a reward. But what exactly is this actually about. Because that's not really described anywhere in the game. And even after the upgrade, it's not really obvious how the upgrade actually works and what it brings you. That's why we want to clear things up for you here. And what can cause confusion in the game is actually quite simple.

  • Each upgraded medium socket automatically increases the item level of the medium used by 26 item levels.

So if you use a medium of level 200, the effect will be upgraded as if the medium had an item level of 226. However, since the individual rows of the Soul Band are only upgraded gradually (the individual upgrades always refer to the entire row in the talent tree), the order of your mediums is important from now on. Your strongest medium should definitely be placed as high up in the talent tree as possible so that it benefits from the upgrade early on.

By the way, it's a bit bitter if you play with the "wrong" soulbands. Because with level 61 Kleia, Emeni, Dreamweaver and Theotar are upgraded. At fame level 62 Mikanikos, Heirmir, Koryan and Draven follow. The missing Pelagos, Marileth, Nadjia, and Niya are not up until level 63 and thus in the following ID. So for one week, eight out of twelve soulbands have the advantage.

Then in the following IDs, all of the Soul Gang's media sockets will gradually be upgraded, making you a little stronger each week.
