WoW: Now it does - Pact abilities work outside of Shadowlands
Highlight recent changes Yes No
Update 9.10.20: WoW's game director Ion Hazikostas has now commented on why the developers decided to use pact abilities outside of Shadowlands after all. For example, the summoning of our Provost in Orgrimmar doesn't make much sense from a fantasy point of view (after all, the creature comes from the otherworld of WoW), but the player feedback was so overwhelming that we can now use our Pact abilities outside of the Shadowlandsafter all.As the
dataminers of wowhead.com found out, the Pact abilities you get in WoW Shadowlands will only work in the Shadowlands content. This could be read out from the latest beta build. Previously, the special additional abilities could also be used in all other content areas of WoW, but this change does not seem to be a bug. By the way, the talent trees and the media of the pacts are not affected by this and grant players their bonuses even in older game content.
To clarify: Pact abilities can be used in these areas of WoW (buy now 14,99 € ):
- In Shadowlands zones (Bastion, Ardenwald, Maldraxus, Revendreth).
- Current Shadowlands group play content such as Shadowlands dungeons (including Torghast), Shadowlands raids
- In instanced PvP (battlegrounds, arena, brawls, etc.).
Pact abilities cannot be used here:
- All open world areas outside of Shadowlands (Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, Outland, Northrend, Pandaria, Draenor, The Devastated Isles, Argus, etc.)
- All dungeons and raids outside of Shadowlands content (Ny'alotha and before)
- All previous expansion features like island expeditions, scenarios, etc.
Possibly this is to limit the character power of your heroes somewhat. Because even though Corruption effects will be removed with the release of the Shadowlands pre-patch, we will still have our Heart of Azeroth and Azerite bonuses available to us outside of the Shadowlands as of now. And don't forget that as mentioned, the Soulbond Talent Tree and Media bonuses are additionally active outside of Shadowlands alongside the Azerite bonuses.Support buffed - it only takes a minute.
