World of Warcraft

WoW: Torghast will not be a level feature with 9.1 - but maybe with 9.1.5

With the upcoming patch 9.1 one of the biggest features of WoW Shadowlands will be massively reworked. We are talking about Torghast, the Tower of the Damned. It will get a new scoring system, new and improved rewards and even its own talent tree. The developers are investing a lot of work to make Torghast more fun for the players than before. Whether this will pay off in the end remains to be seen when the patch arrives on the live servers. What seems clear now, however, is that Torghast will continue to be a feature for level 60 heroes - at least that's what Lead Game Designer Morgan Day let slip in an interview.

The question came up because dataminers recently found strings in the files for patch 9.1 that pointed to experience points in Torghast, which are more likely to be part of the new scoring system.
In an interview with Streamer Sloot, Morgan Day didn't know that such a thing was planned for patch 9.1, but at the same time referred to one of the upcoming intermediate patches.

Morgan Day: I actually love that idea. I don't think it's something we will do for 9.1, but it feels like a great addition for one of the .5 updates.

In principle, he didn't rule out the possibility of such a feature coming with 9.1. But if he as the lead game designer doesn't know anything about it, one should assume that nothing like that is planned. However, the topic is not off the table. As Morgan Day himself says, he likes the idea (just like many players who have commented positively on the forums) and he could imagine such a customization for one of the upcoming x.x.5 patches.

What do you think? Is it a shame that with all the customizations you can't use Torghast as a level feature, or are you glad for every second you don't have to spend in the Tower of the Damned?
