1Timegatingof individual Shadowlands content: Timeline for all features

Only a few weeks have to go by before we can finally head to the Shadowlands and fight the new threat from beyond Azeroth. However, we won't be able to play all the content at once. Instead, Blizzard is once again relying on timegating mechanisms to gradually unleash the expansion's various features on our brave heroes. This is to prevent players from being overwhelmed by all the new content at the release of Shadowlands. Overall, according to Vanion, it will take until February 10, 2021 for all of the content in Shadowlands to be fully unlockable. Therefore, we summarize for you what we can play and when.

When WoW (buy now 14,99 € ) Shadowlands is released on October 27, 2020, Blizzard will unlock new content according to the following schedule

Week 1 - from 27 October 2020 (Shadowlands release)

What happens to legendary items, pact effects, and reputation rewards?

While some Shadowlands content is available right out of the gate, we have to unlock it ourselves before we can use it, such as by earning the appropriate reputation with the associated faction:

Legendary Items: Players can craft one legendary item per week. However, we need 100 soul ash to do so. This is exactly the amount we get when we complete Thorghast at level eight. However, this is likely to remain out of reach for most players in the first week, so the first Legendary will probably be a few weeks away.
Reputation Rewards: Some of the rewards you'll receive for gaining reputation with the factions are available for those with favorable or respectful reputation, including Legendary Effects (favorable) and the Eternal Cauldron alchemy recipe.
Legendary Effects and Soul Bonds: Some Legendary Effects and certain Soul Bonds will not come into play until the release of the first raid, or until you can earn Conquest Points.
